Norway

Norway has a population of about 5 million and covers an area of 385,155 square kilometres. The official Head of State is King Harald V. Norway is known for nature attractions like fjords, mountains and midnight sun, and is easily accessible by plane from most European countries.

Because of the Gulf Stream, Norway has a friendlier climate than the latitude indicates.

Finse

Finse is an ideal location to transition from track skiing to Nordic off-track adventures. Situated at 1222m on the edge of the edge of the famous Hardangervidda and beautiful Skarvheimen national park, Finse has reliable snow conditions from early winter through to May. There is good network of cut tracks on the frozen finsevatnet and wanded Nordic-touring routes which link the DNT huts in the mountains.

It is advised that members join the DNT in advance of the course which will give them a reduction on accommodation costs with the DNT mountain hut system.  Follow this link to join - https://english.dnt.no/

Nordic touring equipment can be rented at Finse when booked in advance.  Please use the following link: https://finse1222.no

If Finse 1222 do not have the equipment you need then there are other suppliers relatively nearby who may be able to help.  The DNT provides an up to date list of many ski rental suppliers in southern Norway.  Follow the link: https://english.dnt.no
