Japan

Qualification Required

  • BASI Level 2 Instructor Qualification
Japan recognises BASI's Alpine, Snowboard, Nordic and Telemark qualifications and each snowsport school has its own employment requirements. As a general rule, only qualified instructors will be offered work.

There can be several ski schools that operate in the same resort and some companies operate several ski schools in different resorts.
For example, visit www.canyons.jp/en/company/jobs to find snowsports instructor positions in Japan's famous 'snow country' region.

Work Remit

Applicants are usually expected to provide their own working holiday visa or a prior arrangement for sponsorship has been made through an individual snowsport school. In order to gain a sponsored visa in Japan, you must have a total of 36 months full-time experience as snowsports instructor.

Other Information

Please Note: Working independently, regardless of qualification, is not permitted under Japanese law.
