BASI New Website

How to login for the first time

The login details for the new site are the same as your login details for the old site. You will need your email address and password but no longer require your member number.  In the new site you can change your password in your member area. There is also a forgotten password option if you cannot remember your password.  If you have difficulty logging in please email. Give us your full name, member number and a contact telephone number and the office will be in contact with you.

What to check in your personal area

Please take a few minutes this week to login to your new Member area and check that your profile details are all correct. We want to make sure that the final data transfer from the old site was successful for all Members. The important details to check are full name, date of birth, address, email, telephone contact details and expiry dates for refreshers, first aid and CRD – these can all be double checked against your Licence.

If you find an error please email BASI. Include your full name and membership number and briefly explain what personal profile information is not correct and what you think it should say.

Give us your Feedback

Take a look around and let us know what you think. If you have feedback for us or find things that are not working please email us. We will work through your comments. When you email us please include the page URL and/ or a screen print and a short description of the issue you have encountered.

Our Objectives with the New Site

Our goal with the new website was to provide visitors with clearer and simpler navigation, especially new visitors, who have little knowledge of BASI. We also wanted to introduce new features that Members wanted to see. The Member area also needed to be easy to navigate and give you more self-service options directly from your personal Member area. Our starting point for the re-design of the new web site and Member area was the feedback you gave us in the 2012 Members 50th Anniversary Survey. Here are some of the comments you gave us and what we have done to meet your requests.

What you told us……

What we did……

When I was first researching joining BASI, I found the website actually pretty difficult to use…

We have tried to create a logical site structure and introduction to BASI that gives potential new members a more welcome and user friendly experience. New members will also find lots of helpful mentor advice from fellow members on the new community pages too.

Something that links us with the market we serve (Tourism). Virtually never see a mention of tourism, a holiday maker or someone learning to ski....

We’ve built a “Find a BASI instructor” public search that potentially links the public with you (licensed Member). We are also trying to report on wider industry topics via the BASI blog and e news.

Whilst often comprehensive the content on the website is not always clear to understand or navigate.

We have tried to build a site structure that is easier and more intuitive to navigate for everyone.

We want help with jobs!

BASI Jobs Board completed and linked with the new site.

Creating a Members only forum so that specific topics and areas of discussion can be searched, viewed, commented on in a less hostile environment. The Facebook page is okay for general news but is not that useful for ongoing discussions and dominated by too few loud opinions!

The new site has online community groups and these can be set up for any topic Members would like to discuss. Members can also choose to become administrators and moderators in these community groups.

Profile pages for members to act as a directory and on line networking

The “Find a BASI instructor” search and the BASI Communities can be used to link you with other instructors and members.

The new site is not the end of BASI’s website and member area development but an exciting starting point. We will continue to refine existing features and functions and plan new ones that Members would like to see developed in future.

Amongst the new features the site contains; “Find a BASI Instructor”. Licensed members can choose to have some of their profile information displayed in a public search so the public can easily find BASI licensed instructors and book lessons directly with you. We also have easier access to “Find a BASI Approved Ski School”. Within the Member area there is a “Community Feature” – this does not replace current social media forums – these are all still there but the Community Groups are “Member only” and they can evolve as the Members see fit. We have set up a few Community Groups to get you started including a “Buy, Sell, Swap” Community for gear as well as one for each discipline including Coaches Corner. It is now up to you how you would like to develop these Communities. These Communities do not need to be office administered or moderated, Members can be the moderators for these groups and if you are interested in taking on a moderator role then please let us know.

We hope you find the new website fresh and contemporary; the team have worked hard to make sure it contains the right level of information to assist you throughout your snowsports instructor career development and your BASI Membership journey. We hope the Communities will be seen as a useful platform to build more member to member networking, mentoring and support.

We hope you like it.
