Our structured qualifications make becoming a ski or snowboard instructor more straightforward. Whether you want to teach ski, snowboard, telemark, adaptive or cross-country, holding a BASI certificate will open doors. You’ll instantly be part of a worldwide crew who’ve made the mountains their classroom and career.
BASI is the only association worldwide whose instructor courses carry academic credit - they can earn UCAS points and are formally recognised by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF). Our qualifications are recognised by the International Ski Instructors Association (ISIA), and we’re also a CIMSPA NGB Training Partner and a member of the UK Sport & Recreation Alliance - meaning BASI qualifications represent the gold standard for instruction.
Training with BASI is flexible and modular. You can complete your Level 1 course in the UK or abroad, then progress through Levels 2 to 4 with expert support from over 100 inspiring BASI trainers working at resorts across Europe and worldwide.
BASI is run by a core team of staff and overseen by a Board of Non-Executive Directors, ensuring the highest standards of sports governance.

Each Level 1 qualification – in ski, snowboard, telemark, adaptive or cross-country - gives you 7 UCAS points, up to a maximum of 35 points. This means that your dedication to teaching snowsports counts when it comes to university and college applications. Another bonus is that most of our courses have been rated by the Scottish Credit and Qualifications Framework (SCQF), which counts in Europe, too.
