About Us

New Generation have more than a decade of experience training ski instructors across the Alps. What started as something we did for our friends has developed into something much more exciting.

Nowadays, we aim to guide and support those with a passion for skiing. By succeeding in their exams and developing a career, you can in turn can develop and inspire others to enjoy skiing. It is our responsibility to create the right environment for you to develop your skills and achieve your goals. So whether you’re a gap year student, someone looking to switch careers or a BASI Level 4 candidate, we have the course for you.

Our BASI Level 1 & 2 Residential Ski instructor courses are an awesome way to kick-start a career or spend a year out while earning some qualifications. These courses are based in Courchevel, Méribel, Stubai and Verbier. Living in the Alps for 2-3 months allows you to be immersed in the ski culture, gaining a taste of what it’s like to be an instructor and receiving totally focused training.

All BASI exam and membership fees are included in our programmes, as well as 180 hours of on-snow training, off-snow support and learning, and language lessons. In Courchevel, Meribel and Verbier we even provide you with your own avalanche kit to keep. All students receive expert coaching from New Generation’s top BASI trainers and can explore new skills with focused days in racing, freeride and park skiing.

We don’t stop there – we have a complete instructor training pathway, meaning we help develop instructors right all the way from BASI 1 to 4. Many choose to stay with New Generation after becoming fully qualified, which means a lot to us.

New Generation is a BASI Partner and approved by the British Association of Snowsport Instructors (BASI) to promote and sell our Ski instructor Courses using the BASI qualification pathway.

Why New Generation?

We are not a tour operator - we are a working ski school and ski instructor training centre. Developing instructors is therefore central to New Generation, and gives us the ability to work with our trainees beyond their ski instructor training. Being at the heart of our working ski school provides trainees with the perfect environment to develop confidence, presentation skills, group management skills and make awesome friends along the way.

New Generation being a fully functioning ski school is something that makes us truly unique: as well as being able to deliver training in-house, we are also able to continue working with students once they are qualified. We have several members of the team who joined us for a gap course and have stayed with New Generation. Some have even helped us open up new ski schools in new resorts, delivered instructor training or examined trainees as BASI Trainers.

We aim to do more than just tick boxes with our courses - that’s why all residential courses include both the BASI Level 1 and 2 exams and all the required modules. All training is offered in-house by our own instructors, which means we can offer greater variety (including off piste, slopestyle and race training). All courses are run by our experienced BASI ISTD qualified Instructors, meaning you’ll receive the highest quality training and become the best instructor you can be.

Training

Intensive performance coaching and personal development both on and off the snow is crucial to your progression as an instructor. Therefore all students receive expert coaching from New Generation’s top current BASI Trainers and ISTD instructors. As well as on-snow coaching, training includes evening sessions and use of video-analysis.

Each student is assigned a mentor who works with students to write action plans which will be continuously developed throughout the course. The mentor system allows us to track student’s progression closely and offer individual help and support for all aspects of the course.

For students who are at all different stages of the instructor pathway we are able to offer them structured practice sessions. These allow Level 3 trainee instructors to offer guidance and support to our BASI 1 & 2 students and help them to work on points highlighted by their mentors.

Which Resorts?

Courchevel - New Generation’s BASI 1 & 2 course in Courchevel is our longest running programme, and is the home of New Generation. Part of the biggest ski area in the world, Courchevel boasts some of the best skiing available with access to mogul fields, smooth race pistes, glacier and couloir skiing

Meribel - Méribel is recognised as one of the best locations for a winter season; a lively, friendly and party atmosphere combined with serious skiers make for an epic experience.

Verbier Verbier is a lively, friendly and exciting resort with lots of festivals and events throughout the year. Our BASI 1 & 2 Ski Instructor course there puts you at the centre of our unique instructor training pathway – we train instructors at all BASI Levels in resort. This means you’ll be part of an experienced team in a focused environment.

Stubai - Austria’s largest glacier is the perfect place to run a pre-seasin BASI 1 & 2 instructor course. You’ll receive the best training surrounded by racers and freestylers alike preparing for the season ahead, and finish up just in time for the winter to start. We support students in finding work for the winter too!

St Anton - Our newest training resort with a dedicated BASI Level 3 Work and Train programme. BASI Level 2 candidates can join our thriving team in resort, wearing their very own New Generation uniform. It’s the home of après too, which doesn’t hurt!
