Registering with BASI

Serving, retired or reserve military personnel who hold a Military Ski or XC qualification such as a JSSI, ASI or SL1 can register to have their qualification recognised by BASI. Please follow the booking link at the bottom of this webpage to register with BASI.

The total cost of registration is £69.99 which includes:

  • Free Registration to Safeguarding Children module with eLearning at Work (saving £25) 
  • Free Upgrade to become Full Member when qualification completed (saving £25)

Once registered and the payment processed, BASI will e-mail confirming the registration has been completed.

Gaining the BASI Ski/XC Level 1 Qualification

Individuals who wish to convert their Military Ski or XC qualification, whether current or not, to the BASI Ski/XC Level 1 must follow the procedure below following registration with BASI:

  • Forward a copy of their certificate confirming their Military Ski/XC qualification to the BASI Office by e-mail [email protected] 
  • Book a 1 day Ski/XC Level 1 & 2 CPD course (course fee £69.00)

Upon successful completion of the 1 day conversion course:

  • Forward a copy of valid first aid certificate (minimum of 12 hrs/2 days in duration and meeting the BASI first aid requirements as per the website)
  • Complete the Safeguarding Children Module or provide a copy of a suitable Safeguarding Children module certificate
  • Upload a passport size photo

NB: Holders of a Military Ski/XC qualification are exempt from the 70 hours of ski school experience normally required between attendance on the BASI Level 1 and Level 2 courses. 

Once the process above has been successfully completed a BASI Level 1 qualification will be awarded and members will receive a licence and badge.

Individuals who are unsuccessful during their attendance on the Ski/XC Level 1 & 2 CPD course, will either have to complete the course again or attend a 4 day Level 1 course depending on the nature of the fail.

Booking onto a Level 2 Course

Alternatively, individuals who wish to use their Military qualification, whether current or not, to book directly onto the BASI Ski/XC Level 2 course must follow the procedure below, following registration with BASI:

  • Forward a copy of their certificate confirming their Military Alpine qualification to the BASI Office by e-mail [email protected] 
  • Book a Ski/XC Level 2 course (course fee £699.00)

  
Upon successful completion of the Ski/XC Level 2 course:

  • Forward a copy of valid first aid certificate (minimum of 12 hrs/2 days in duration and meeting the BASI first aid requirements as per the website)
  • Complete the Safeguarding Children Module or provide a copy of a suitable Safeguarding Children module certificate
  • Upload a passport size photo
