Course Information: Alpine Development Coach Level 2
| ALPINE DEVELOPMENT COACH LEVEL 2 COURSE INFORMATION (Club Coach) This 4 day course is the second level of the Development Coach and is a performance module where the student will learn through completing a series of drill progressions to meet the required skill level of the course. The course is targeted at former athletes wishing to forge a career as a Snowsports Coach; Instructors and Coaches wishing to enhance their qualifications and knowledge through developing a greater understanding of Snowsports performance. The Development Coach Level 1 and Level 2 courses run as a seven day package, is designed to meet the needs of those candidates working towards their Level 3 ISIA Alpine award. The Alpine Level 2 Instructor qualification is a pre-requisite for this package. Members working towards their ISIA and booking the Alpine Development Coach Level 1 & 2 Courses together, must complete the required 20 hours before attending the Alpine Development Coach Level 1 Course. Please Note: As of the end of September 2010, 20 hours of Coaching Experience must be completed with a recognised, affiliated club with The Home Nation Governing Bodies prior to attending the Development Coach Level 2 Course. These hours can consist of either participation in coaching sessions or shadowing coaching sessions. Prerequisite Athletic fitness level required to complete drills Ski requirement of Giant Slalom skis of no less than 17m radius Be an associate member of BASI A Suitable Giant Slalom helmet is required Any Coach Level 1 Qualification (Alpine, Alpine Freestyle or Snowboard Freestyle), effective September 2010
Modules required for Qualification Valid (12 hour) first aid certificate Attended a child protection module Forward a copy of your disclosure certificate, if you have not already done so. If required click here for more information on how to apply for a basic disclosure The principal outcomes from this course are Setting basic drills Set courses for ski racers Understand the basic bio mechanical movements, as explained through physics that appear in race technique Enhancing analysis of skier performance relating to bio mechanics Match drills to bio mechanics How using drills can enhance skill acquisition practise sessions Setting basic drills, brush and stubbie courses Set courses for ski racers and develop performance in racing The basics of spill zones Demonstrate good racing technique Introduce people to ski racing safely Basic ski prep Basic understanding of modern equipment Introduction to Strength & Conditioning |
