BASI Coaching Scheme

Welcome to the Coaching section of the BASI website.
Over the last year BASI has been working together with Snowsport GB and formed a partnership to work together in some key areas of Coach Development with a view to creating a multi level Coaching System that will meet the needs of our UK clubs, teams and athletes. It is the workings of this relationship and the expertise made available to us that has provided the foundation of the BASI Coaching Scheme.

BASI has also created close ties with the Canadian Ski Coaching Federation (CSCF) and has in place agreements to use their material and in some cases offer a dual qualification with Canada.
The Development Coach Level 1 carries with it a dual qualification with the CSCF Entry Level.
We have been working together with our partners for the last year delivering courses and training our staff to deliver what we believe is the best Coaching product available.

There are four clear steps in the Coaching Scheme, and each is designed around meeting the needs of Coaches from club level to National Team. They are as follows:

BASI Coaching Pathway

Coaches from Development Coach Level 2 onwards will have the opportunity and be encouraged to continue developing and refreshing through the Coaching module programme. This is a series of short theory and Coach specific modules you will see listed.

The modules will enable Coaches to gain knowledge and understanding of everything from course setting and FIS rules to physiology and nutrition, while at the same time working toward their next level Coaching qualification.
A requirement of the Performance Coach Level 3 and Elite Coach Level 4 courses is to undertake a series of these same modules, available in the UK and abroad, in order to complete the qualifications.
