Qualification Information: Snowboard Level 4 ISTD

*6 Logged Days Touring must be completed before attending the Level 4 EMS Assessment Course, this log must be given to the Guide at the commencement of the Level 4 EMS Assessment Course.

Please Note: Your licence will not be valid without a minimum of a BASIC Criminal Record Disclosure, click here or a Valid First Aid & Emergency Certificate, click here. Your licence needs to be Refreshed at least once every 3 years, click here.

Re-assessment
Any re-assessments (re-sits) must be taken within 2 years of the date of the course they have failed. If the re-assessment (re-sit) is not successfully completed within this time, then the student will be required to pay for and attend the ‘whole’ course again. 

Any student who fails both the Technical and the Teaching element of any course is normally advised to retake the ‘whole’ course and this will be noted on their individual Course Report Form submitted by their Trainer. A student who fails only part of the course may be advised to attend a reassessment. 

BASI Snowboard Level 3 ISIA and the ISTD Qualification

Holders of the BASI Snowboard Level 3 ISIA qualification who are high level performers will have the opportunity to upgrade their qualification to the Multidiscipline ISTD Qualification and may be considered on a case by case basis for Right of Establishment as a Snowsport Teacher in France.

Pre-requisites

  • Successful completion of Snowboard Level 3 ISIA Qualification
  • Be 18yrs of age or older 

Outcome
On successful completion of the Snowboard Level 4 ISTD Qualification, students are qualified to the level required for mutual recognition in France, Austria and Italy. Students intending to work in these countries will still be required to apply and register to work in accordance with the relevant national authorities. 

The Snowboard Level 4 ISTD licence qualifies the student to teach snowboarding on all terrain and conditions. This includes techniques and tactics for steeper terrain, higher speeds, jumping and variable conditions within the marked pistes and off piste, apart from on glaciated terrain.
