Membership Information: How to become an Instructor

Your first step to becoming an Instructor is to choose which discipline you would like to become an Instructor in.
Once this is decided you need to become an associate member of BASI and attend a Level 1 course which can be done at some of the UK Snow Domes, Dry Slopes or abroad.

To view or book on a Level 1 instructor course, please click on the links below for dates and venues:

To get your Level 1 Instructor qualification you will need to do a Safeguarding Children Module and attend a First Aid course (2 days or 12 hours and HSE approved), then you will also need to complete 35hrs of Snowsport School experience.

This is all you need to do to get a Level 1 instructor badge and certificate, however to get your licence to teach, you must ensure that your Criminal Record Disclosure is in place (click here for more information) and that we have a passport size photo of you.

Then, you can book onto your Level 2.
Please note: it is essential that you provide evidence of a further 35hrs of Snowsport School experience to attend the Level 2 course, thus giving a total of 70 hours between Level 1 and Level 2.
