Qualification Information: Adaptive Level 2 Instructor

* Adaptive Level 1 instructors must complete and submit 35hrs of Adaptive teaching evidence to the BASI Office 5 days before the start of the Adaptive Level 2 Instructor course. These hours should be Adaptive teaching on an indoor slope or shadowing an Adaptive instructor in a snowsport school in Europe. Alpine Level 2 instructors can book directly on the Adaptive Level 2 instructor course with the 70 hours of teaching completed for their Alpine Level 2 qualification. However, they must provide evidence of 35hrs of adaptive snowsports school experience logged AFTER successful completion of the Adaptive Level 2 instructor course to gain the qualification.

Re-assessment

There are no re-assessments available for this course: if a candidate fails both or part of the teaching and/or technical elements of the course, they willl be required to book on and attend the whole ten day course again.

Entry Criteria
Students should arrive with an understanding of both the technical and teaching philosophy of BASI. 

Pre-requisites
The following pre-requisites must be met before attending an Adaptive Level 2 Instructor course. Students must have: 

  • Successful completion of the Adaptive Level 1 Instructor Qualification or the Alpine Level 2 Qualification (a good knowledge of disabilities is required if you choose not to attend the Adaptive Level 1 course). 
  • An additional 35 hours of Adaptive Snowsports School Experience is required between completion of the Adaptive Level 1 Instructor course and attendance of the Adaptive Level 2 Instructor course.

Outcome
Successful students will be able to ski to a competent level, have the knowledge, ability and understanding to safely teach disabled skiing up to and including parallel standard within a controlled mountain environment. Individuals who do not reach the required level may be required to resit the whole course.
