Course Information: Adaptive Level 1 Instructor
Other Modules Required:
*35 Adaptive hours will have to be completed after attending the Adaptive Level 1 Instructor Course. Any hours completed before attending the course will not be accepted. Alpine Level 2 instructors who have passed the Adaptive Level 1 instructor course also need to complete 35 hrs of adaptive teaching AFTER the course.
The Adaptive Level 1 Instructor course focuses on the learning progression including both knowledge and awareness of disabilities. Students are trained and assessed on an ongoing basis to develop technical and teaching skills and promote an understanding of all safety requirements.
To be successful on this course, good background knowledge of disability is essential and effectively as important as the ability to teach or demonstrate. Studying or reading about disabilities prior to attending the course is highly recommended. It would also make it easier for you to gain as much practical experience as possible beforehand.
Upon course and other modules’ completion, successful candidates gain a qualification which enables them to teach adaptive skiing in controlled indoor environments.
On the 5 day course, the following subjects are covered: Bi-Ski and Learning Difficulties
PLEASE NOTE: this course requires a good level of physical strength and fitness. Use of a helmet is compulsory.
