BASI Cancellation Policy Unfortunately, due to the nature of the industry, injuries and accidents are not unusual which is why the BASI information stipulates (in the same way as booking a holiday) that members should themselves arrange to have suitable insurance in place to cover for this unfortunate eventuality. No monies will be refunded by BASI where a course is curtailed as a result of an injury sustained either before or whilst participating in the course or for any other reason such as the need to return home early because of a family bereavement. In such an instance, the only way for a member to recover any costs is by making a claim on his or her own insurance policy. To assist you with this process, BASI can raise a cancellation invoice. There are now nearly 3,000 course places being organised each year and were BASI to take on the responsibility of arranging insurance and processing claims this would be a significant administrative and financial burden which would drive up the cost of courses significantly and which we do not think can be justified in the overall interest of the whole membership. IT IS THEREFORE ESSENTIAL THAT YOU HAVE YOUR OWN INSURANCE TO COVER YOU ON YOUR BASI COURSE. THIS NEEDS TO COVER CANCELLATION AND CURTAILMENT AS WELL AS MEDICAL AND REPATRIATION INSURANCE AND ANY OTHER RISKS, SUCH AS THEFT, FOR WHICH YOU WISH TO BE COVERED. IT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY TO CHECK THAT YOUR INSURANCE IS IN PLACE AND THAT IT IS ADEQUATE FOR YOUR REQUIREMENTS. - If you cancel more than 6 weeks prior to the start of your course, you will lose any deposit paid at the time of booking
- If you cancel less than 6 weeks prior to the start of your course, you will be liable to pay to BASI the full cost of the course less any deposit paid prior to the cancellation
- Cancellations or any changes to the original booking must be notified IN WRITING ONLY to the BASI Office by fax, email or letter. Verbal instructions to cancel must be confirmed in writing to be acted upon by the BASI Office. This is standard practice.
Please note: If courses are confirmed and invoiced, deposits OR fully paid courses are non refundable/transferable EVEN if there is a waiting list. This is in compliance with your bookings terms and conditions.
